Woman woken by knifeman in room

A woman in South Yorkshire was woken in the early hours of the morning by a knife-wielding man standing at the side of her bed.

Police said the 32-year-old woman was asleep in her house on South Street in Thurcroft, near Rotherham, when she was confronted early on Sunday.

The thief quizzed the woman about her property before fleeing with a purse containing bank cards and cash.

Police think the bald-headed intruder got in through an open door.
