New PCSOs for city neighbourhoods

Fifteen more police community support officers (PCSOs) are to patrol the streets of Sheffield thanks to funding from the city council.

One officer will be allocated to each of the 10 Safer Neighbourhood Areas which cover the whole of Sheffield.

Five will work specifically on tackling anti-social behaviour among youths.

A council spokesman said the 15 officers were in addition to the 10 it already funds through the Safer Communities Partnership.
