Girl, 10, is shot with pellet gun

A 10-year-old girl was injured when she was shot with a suspected pellet gun in Barnsley.

The youngster was outside Burton Grange Community Centre, Wilke Road, when the pellet struck her leg.

A spokesman for South Yorkshire Police said the shot caused swelling and bruising to the girl.

Despite extensive searches of the area officers failed to find a weapon or person responsible. Anyone with information should contact police.
