Lorry driver in M1 heart attack

A lorry driver has died after suffering a heart attack as he was travelling on the M1 in South Yorkshire.

Carl Shields, 41, of Hoyland, Barnsley, pulled on to the hard shoulder between junctions 33 and 32 after feeling unwell on Sunday evening, police said.

"He called for an ambulance and when a crew arrived at the scene, they found him suffering a heart attack at the roadside," said a police spokesman.

Mr Shields died a short time later at Rotherham District General Hospital.
