The Princess Royal has praised the newly revamped Doncaster Racecourse, saying she hopes it will become a venue of national importance.
Princess Anne made the comments as she officially opened the racecourse after a £32m upgrade which includes a new conference and exhibition centre.
She said: "I hope that it will be appreciated and used by businesses not just locally but as a national venue."
Thousands of people attended the course on Wednesday for the St Leger Festival.
Future 'great'
The site was redeveloped in a joint £32m venture by Doncaster Metropolitan Borough Council and Arena Leisure.
Changes include a new five-tier grandstand, including a conference and exhibition centre, betting outlets, bars, dining areas, private boxes and hospitality suites.
Lloyd Nicholson, director of Urban-i, sponsors of the new stand, said: "We believe we are investing in Doncaster . . . the future of Doncaster is great."
