Cyclist killed in tram collision

A 39-year-old cyclist has been killed in a collision with a Supertram in Sheffield, police say.

The man, from Sheffield, suffered head injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, which happened on Wednesday afternoon.

The tram was travelling along Ridgeway Road near the junction with Newlands Road when it collided with the cyclist, who was crossing in front.

Police have appealed for witnesses to the crash to contact them.
