Resort development plans on show

Weston-super-Mare seafront

Redevelopment plans making Weston-super-Mare's town centre more "family-friendly" go on display in a series of exhibitions planned over summer.

The Weston plan focuses on 15 sites including Birnbeck Island, Dolphin Square and Victoria Square opposite the Grand Pier.

People who live in the resort are being asked to view the proposals and offer their opinions.

Planners from North Somerset Council will be on hand to answer questions.

EXHIBITION LOCATIONS

The first exhibition will be held at the Winter Gardens on Monday 20 July.

"I would urge people to visit the exhibitions and let us have their thoughts - this is your chance to help shape the future of the town," said deputy leader of North Somerset Council Elfan Ap Rees.

"We need it to be a busy family-friendly centre in which people want to live, work and spend their leisure time.

"We would like to see further significant improvements in terms of its retail, employment and tourism offer, while maintaining adequate car parking provision and traffic circulation around the town," he added.

The exhibition will also be displayed in the Sovereign Shopping Centre on 25 July and at the Town Hall from 13-28 August.

All comments should be returned to the council by 4 September.
