Wrong body cremated after blunder

A funeral parlour in Bath has apologised after the wrong body was sent for cremation.

Co-op Funeralcare says both families involved have been informed and staff are being disciplined.

It said "an unfortunate identification error" was blamed for the mistake, thought to have happened at Haycombe crematorium.

Relatives of the deceased have requested no further details are made public.

In a statement, Co-op Funeralcare confirmed there had been a "distressing" incident involving its office in Bath.

The firm said disciplinary proceedings were ongoing against the staff involved and both families affected had received an apology.
