Family too scared for cycle path

A family from Bristol say they are so scared of being attacked on the Bath to Bristol cycle path they may have to consider buying a car.

Their son, Bradley Hudd, has recently become another victim of an attack on the path on the stretch between Easton and Mangotsfield.

"We have to use the path every single day to get to a bus route," said Bradley's mother Jo Ebling.

Avon and Somerset Police say they have been working on making the path safer.

"We did have some difficulties with certain people causing a problem locally," said Insp Graham Fox.

"Thankfully we've taken them out now so we're now in a situation where things have improved quite considerably."

Bradley was punched in the eye as a gang tried to steal his mobile phone late on Wednesday June 10, on his way home from work.

"They need to get more security on it and spend money on public safety," said Mrs Ebling.

This incident follows 14 assaults and robberies recorded by police in a seven-day period.
