Pursued car crashes into factory

A car being pursued by police along the M5 in Somerset, crashed into a factory on an industrial estate.

The Mercedes sports car - suspected to have been stolen - came off at junction 24 northbound and was driven back towards Taunton.

It smashed into Somerset Hose and Hydraulics at Priorswood.

Two men, aged 39 and 20, were treated for serious but not life-threatening injuries. They were arrested and released on bail till 27 February.

The incident, which happened in the early hours of Friday, has been referred to the Independent Police Complaints Commission.

Factory manager, Brian Every, said the crash had left a large hole in the building. He added that there could have been serious injuries if the incident had happened during the day.
