Men arrested over cycle accident

Two men have been arrested following a road accident, which left a cyclist with serious injuries.

The injured man, who is in his 50s, was knocked down by a car near the Mole Valley Farmers shop on Berkley Street, in Berkley near Frome, Somerset.

He was taken to the Royal United Hospital in Bath, where he is said to be critically ill.

Police have closed a stretch of the road, between Pot Lane and the A36 at Standerwick Cross.

Diversions are in place via the A361 past White Chapel farm on to the A36 at Beckington, or the A3098 Chapmanslade on to the A36 at Dead Maids crossroads.
