Youth accused of attacking woman

A 15-year-old boy has appeared in court charged with attacking an 83-year-old woman.

Kathleen Hutchins, from Taunton, Somerset, was seriously injured in the attack sometime between Monday afternoon and Tuesday.

She remains in hospital with a fractured cheekbone, broken arm and extensive facial bruising.

The boy is charged with causing grievous bodily harm. He was remanded in custody to reappear on 21 October.

Police described Ms Hutchins' condition as stable.
