An ex-Salvation Army captain has admitted stealing a large amount of cash from the charity and from the estate of an Alzheimer's sufferer.

Heather Wallace pleaded guilty to four counts of theft at Bristol Crown Court between January 2003 and August 2005.

Wallace formerly of Midsomer Norton, now living in Northumberland, stole £24,312 from the estate of her friend Kathleen Maggs, who lived in care.

She also stole £9,669 from the charity. She will be sentenced later.
