New care centre ready for action

Work has finished on a new care centre for elderly and disabled people in Keynsham near Bath.

The Hawthorns Community Resource Centre is the third and final project of Bath and North East Somerset Council's £28.8m revamp of local care facilities.

The site includes a residential care home, extra care flats and a self-contained day centre for 20 people.

Thirty-six staff will start training on Monday and the site is expected to open formally in November.

Care manager Joyce Wooster said: "The council has had an excellent response to its recruitment drive and the care management team look forward to working with new employees.

"There is a real buzz around all three of our facilities now the three-project programme is complete."
