Movie map aims to boost tourism

Film and television fans can find out about productions which have been filmed in Bath and North East Somerset (B&NES) with a new movie map.

The map has been developed following recent filming for The Dutchess starring Kiera Knightley and Ralph Fiennes and the BBC's Bonekickers.

It features almost 40 films and TV series filmed in the area since 1931.

Locations featured include Bath's Royal Crescent, The Circus, The Assembly Rooms and The Pump Rooms.

Productions also included on the map are Ghost Train (1931); The Titfield Thunderbolt (1952); The Music Lovers (1969); Remains of the Day (1993); Vanity Fair (2003) and Persuasion (2006).

'Generates revenue'

The map has been designed to allow visitors to Bath undertake independent walking tours.

Councillor David Hawkins said: "This new map showcases the wealth of memorable productions filmed here in Bath and North East Somerset.

"It proves just how attractive Bath and its surrounds have been to film-makers over the past century.

"The council's film office works hard to put the area on the big screen - this work helps boost tourism and generates a significant amount of revenue."

The map has been put together by Jan Hull, a Blue Badge Guide, using records compiled by Bath Film Office over the years.
