Bird blown up in firework attack

Rangers at Ham Hill Country Park near Yeovil, said the bird had fireworks attached to it and described the actions as "unfettered cruelty".

The remains were found following after bonfire night celebrations at the park.

The RSPCA said it was not known if the bird was alive or dead when it was blown up, but described the attack as "horrendous."

"At best we are talking about some gruesome individuals who attached fireworks to the body of a dead bird and blew it to pieces," said spokeswoman Jo Barr.

"At worst we could be talking about a deliberate act of cruelty on a live creature which would have caused it untold amounts of suffering.

"Either way we are appealing for anyone with information about this horrendous act to come forward."
