Health chiefs are to visit a Shropshire town which is above the national average for people with ill health.
Telford and Wrekin has high numbers of people dying from heart disease, strokes and cancer, although there have been improvements, an NHS report said.
Men in more affluent areas of the town are living almost six-and-a-half years longer than those in poorer areas.
Officials from the National Support Team for Health Inequalities will meet local NHS officials next month.
They will also look at why the number of people dying aged under 75 is higher in Telford than elsewhere.
