Engineering firm axes 60 workers

A Shropshire engineering firm has announced it is shedding its temporary and contract workers.

Caterpillar Remanufacturing Services, in Shrewsbury, said it had cut the posts of about 60 workers.

The company said it regretted the action which was caused by falling sales and production levels.

A spokesman said the firm hoped the decision would "best position the company for long-term success and profitable growth".
