Man arrested after death at party

A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a woman died at a party in the early hours of New Year's Day.

Police said there were several people at the house party in Minsterley near Shrewsbury, Shropshire, where 46-year-old Sharn Jones was found dead.

A post-mortem examination is due to be carried out to find out how she died.

A man aged in his 30s was arrested when police were called to the scene shortly after 0300 GMT. Police have appealed for witnesses to come forward.

Insp Keith Gee, of West Mercia Police, said: "The results of the post-mortem examination are still awaited and the male in his 30s who was arrested at the scene remains in custody on suspicion of murder while inquiries continue."
