Thief took dog along to burglary

A burglar who broke into a house in Shropshire took his dog along with him, police said.

Officers said they hoped they could now identify the thief, who broke into the house in Julian Road, Ludlow, by his grey lurcher or Irish wolfhound.

The householder disturbed the burglar at about 0430 BST before he fled with cash, bank cards and a set of keys.

The man was described as being of slim build and about 6ft tall. He was wearing a woollen hat.

Pc John Ralph, of West Mercia Police, said it was "an unusual set of circumstances".
