Bag is stolen in street robbery

A woman was robbed as she walked back to her home in Shrewsbury.

The incident happened at about 0040 GMT on Sunday as the victim was walking along Abbey Foregate.

She was approached from behind by a man who grabbed her canvas bag. Despite a struggle, the handles broke off the bag and the thief escaped.

The offender was in his late teens or early 20s and had spiky hair. Police believe a witness near the Bricklayers pub may have seen the robbery.
