Revamped homeless shelter opens

Redevelopment work at the centre in Castle Foregate, Shrewsbury, started 18 months ago but the project finished about six months late.

The shelter was formerly a drop-in centre but now has additional facilities including a new kitchen.

Harvey Gould, from Shrewsbury and Atcham Borough Council, said it was hoped the improved venue would help homeless men get their lives in order.

"If we are going to give these people a facility like this which is in great condition and obviously built to a high standard, then that's going to encourage them to try and sort out some of their issues," he said.
