Vandals push over 16 gravestones

Vandals caused damage valued at up to £4,000 when they pushed over gravestones in a cemetery.

The line of 16 headstones, at Shrewsbury Cemetery in Longden Road, were not broken but the cost is expected to cover stonemason repairs.

The vandals struck sometime between Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning.

Police said there was extensive damage to some of the headstones after they were forced over and they would welcome any information about the incident.
