Gas explosion at pensioner's home
An 85-year-old man is being treated for serious burns after a gas explosion at his home in Shropshire which ripped out the window and part of the wall.
It is believed Eric Jones was trying to light the cooker at his bungalow in Bollingale Avenue in Wombridge, Telford, when it exploded.
He has taken to the burns unit at Selly Oak Hospital in Birmingham.
Neighbour Pauline Carrington said: "I heard this rumble and I saw a flash, so I immediately went to my back door."
She said she could see Mr Jones' window had come away from his kitchen.
"He was supporting himself against the kitchen unit very dazed," she said.
