Community group to run town hall

A Shropshire town hall, which councillors were considering selling, is to be reopened and managed by a community group.

North Shropshire District Council, which owns Wem Town Hall, decided to stop running it last December as it was becoming too expensive to maintain.

The council will still own the building but a community group will run it, at first for a seven-month trial period.

Almost £2m has been spent on renovating the town hall.
