Approval for £2.3m roadworks plan

Planning permission has been granted for a £2.3m roadworks scheme on the London Road in Headington, Oxford.

Work is due to start in the spring to replace a subway with a pedestrian crossing and install more lighting.

The plans were based on feedback from 420 people and include three new 30 minute parking slots off Windmill Road.

Oxfordshire County Council said it would also improve lay bys and provide extra loading space between Osler Road and Wharton Road to ease congestion.

The roadworks are expected to last eight to nine months and were approved at a council cabinet meeting on Thursday.
