Hanging death was not suspicious

The death of a man found hanging outside a house was not suspicious, police have said.

The 34-year-old was found outside an address in Clive Road, Cowley, Oxford, on Sunday night.

A post-mortem examination which took place on Monday revealed that the man died of asphyxia.

Two men from Cowley, aged 30 and 35, who were arrested on suspicion of murder have been released without charge.

Supt Andy Murray of Thames Valley Police said: "We would like to reassure the public that all unexplained deaths are thoroughly investigated by police to identify if there are any suspicious circumstances.

"As a result of this investigation... we were able to rule out the possibility that the man was murdered.

"The actual cause will be determined by the coroner - although the indications now are that he took his own life."

Police will be carrying out reassurance patrols in the area to provide residents with an update on the investigation.
