Heavy rain leads to flooding fear

Several rivers across Oxfordshire are on flood watch for the second day following heavy overnight rain.

On Monday, there was some minor localised flooding at Swinford Toll Bridge, Cropredy and Wardington.

People have been advised to monitor local news and weather forecasts and also ensure they have mobile phones with them while travelling.

A flood watch is issued when there is a danger of flooding on low lying land and roads.

The rivers on flood watch are:

• River Ray from Shipton Lee to Islip

• River Thame from Long Marston to Dorchester

• River Cherwell from Charwelton to Oxford

• River Evenlode from Moreton-in-Marsh to Cassington

• River Windrush from Bourton-on-the-Water to Newbridge

A flood watch is issued when there is a danger of flooding on low lying land and roads.
