Vale's homebuyers' scheme on show

A special homebuyers' day is being planned in Oxfordshire for people struggling to afford their first home during the global financial crisis.

Vale of White Horse District Council wants to raise awareness of shared ownership schemes in the south Oxfordshire area.

About 160 new homes are due to be built in the vale in the next few years, for people to part-buy and part-rent.

The event is being held at the Abingdon Guildhall on 22 October.

The Citizens Advice Bureau (CAB), solicitors and mortgage advisers will be at the event to help people to work out how much they might need to save and to offer mortgage and legal advice.
