Man in hospital after hit-and-run

A pedestrian has been left in a serious condition in hospital after a hit-and-run crash in Oxfordshire.

The male victim was walking in Cuddesdon Way, in the Blackbird Leys area of Oxford, at about 1800 BST on Thursday when he was hit by a car.

Police said there had been an altercation between two men outside shops in Blackbird Leys Road prior to the collision.

The victim, aged in his 20s, was stable at the John Radcliffe Hospital.

Stepping up patrols

Det Insp Simon Morton, of Thames Valley Police, said: "We believe it is the same men involved in both incidents.

"A green car collided with a man, aged in his twenties and then left the scene."

The road was cordoned off between Blackbird Leys Road and Sawpit Road while investigators examined the scene.

Police were stepping up patrols in the area on Friday.

Any witnesses have been urged to contact police.
