Man held after wife assault claim

An 80-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a man contacted police saying he had assaulted his wife.

Officers were contacted at about 1000 BST and attended an address in Drayton, Banbury.

A woman in her 70s was rushed to John Radcliffe Hospital with head injuries.

The man is currently in police custody. The property has been sealed off and scenes of crime officers are carrying out further investigations.
