Man dies following motorway crash

An elderly man has died following a crash between two vehicles on a motorway in Oxfordshire.

The victim was a passenger in a Ford Fiesta, which collided with another Fiesta on the southbound M40, between junctions 9 and 8A.

The women driving the cars sustained minor injuries and were treated by paramedics at the scene.

The seriously injured man was taken to Oxford's John Radcliffe Hospital, where he later died.

Police have appealed for witnesses to the crash, which happened at 1350 BST, to contact them.

Pc Charlie Etheridge, of Thames Valley Police, said: "There were several people who did not stop at the scene and they could have information, which will help us establish how the collision occurred."
