Weapon wielding gang attack man

A man was attacked by a hooded gang wielding weapons as he walked at night in Oxfordshire.

The man, in his 20s, was walking with a woman at about 0230 BST past Wood Green Leisure Centre in Banbury when they saw a group of about 10 youths.

Three of the group, wearing hooded tops, approached the pair before attacking the man in Queen's Road, inflicting head, body and leg injuries.

Police have appealed for information to what was an "unprovoked" attack.

The victim received treatment at Horton General Hospital.

The attackers were described as white, about 6ft tall and had their hoods up.

Pc Adey Lines, of Thames Valley Police, said: "This was a completely unprovoked attacked.

"We are unsure exactly what weapons his attackers used, but the injuries he received were from blunt instruments."
