Woman dies in two car collision

A woman has died in a crash involving two cars in Oxfordshire.

A Ford Escort and VW Golf collided on the B4494 at the junction with the Ridgeway National Trail south of Wantage shortly before 0600 BST.

Firefighters cut the drivers free from their vehicles before they were treated by paramedics.

The driver of the Escort was pronounced dead at the scene while the driver of the Golf was taken to a hospital in Oxford with serious injuries.

The road was closed until 1130 BST while investigators examined the scene.
