Warning over 'fake goods' conman

Residents in Oxfordshire are being warned about a bogus salesman who is selling fake kitchenware.

Members of the public have reported a man selling knives and saucepans which are claimed to be made by Kaiserbach.

But the pieces have been turned out to be fake while consumers have complained about product quality, pushy sales tactics and misleading information.

Oxfordshire County Council said the man may also be falsely claiming to be working for the council.

Nigel Struck, head of the council's Trading Standards, said: "We would strongly advise all Oxfordshire residents not to deal with traders who call at their house.

"If you are at all suspicious about a doorstep caller, please report the matter to Trading Standards."

Similar reports have emerged in other parts of the UK and across Europe and the scam is well known to trading standards and the Office of Fair Trading.
