Air ambulance moves to new home

The Thames Valley and Chilterns Air Ambulance Trust moved into its new home at RAF Benson on Monday.

For the past eight years, the distinctive yellow helicopter has operated out of White Waltham airfield, near Maidenhead, Berkshire.

Its fundraising activities will continue to operate from the services' Berkshire headquarters.

Response times

The air ambulance, which was set up in 1999, serves people living in Berkshire, Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire and parts of Northamptonshire.

Colin Lee, chairman of the Thames Valley and Chilterns Air Ambulance Trust, said: "We are very pleased with the move to RAF Benson."

The charity pushed for the move saying RAF Benson provided a more central and secure location, meaning cheaper fuel costs, and had better maintenance facilities.

The charity's trustees have said they do not expect an adverse affect on response times.
