Ten flee blaze at star's cottage

Fire at The Swallows in Bolney Road Ten people managed to escape after a large fire broke out at a thatched cottage in south Oxfordshire.

The blaze started in the roof of an eight-bedroom house - called The Swallows - in Bolney Road, Shiplake, near Henley, on Saturday night.

The cottage - which is the family home of Hollyoaks star Ali Bastian - was completely destroyed by the fire.

Nobody was hurt but up to 100 firefighters worked through the night to bring the flames under control.

Ms Bastian is known as teacher Becca in the Channel 4 series.

Her father Nick, lived at the cottage with his partner, Mary.

The Oxfordshire millionaire was hosting a dinner party when the blaze started, forcing everyone to flee the building.

The family were put up by friends overnight and have now been moved to a hotel.
