A 70-year-old woman punched in the face by a man demanding money from her as she lay in bed at her Nottingham home has been identified by police.

The offender went into the house at Trentham Gardens, Aspley, while Patricia Pearson and her husband were in bed on Monday.

Police said the burglar confronted Mrs Pearson before grappling with her 68-year-old husband.

The attacker fled in a waiting car which was driven by an accomplice.

The couple were left bruised and shaken after the incident.

The offender is described as white, aged between late teens and early 20s and was wearing a dark coloured top.

Officers have urged anyone with information to come forward.
