Several hundred fish die in canal

Dead fish

Several hundred fish have been found dead in city centre canal.

Anglers reported that fish including carp, roach and perch were found floating in Nottingham Canal between Castle Marina and London Road.

Jeff Dolby from the Environment Agency said: "When we get a combination of sustained hot weather and intense rainfall, it overwhelms the systems.

"Unfortunately we do experience a number of similar events across the county," he added.
