Nottinghamshire put on film map

Two sections of Nottinghamshire's river and canal network have been included in a map of well-known film locations.

Scenes from the Shane Meadows film "This Is England" and the TV series "Boon" featured areas of the River Trent and the Nottingham Canal.

British Waterways, which organised the map, is encouraging people to visit the locations near where they live.

Spokesman Stephan Hardy said there was plenty of scope for much more filming around Nottinghamshire.

He said: "In Nottingham alone we've got some striking backdrops for filming.

"We have Trent Bridge, we've got historic buildings at Castle Wharf.

"And then at the other end of the spectrum we've got rural (backdrops), the River Trent and Grantham canals.

"So there's certainly something for everybody and we'd definitely like to see more filming opportunities taken up."
