Search on for film-making talent

Film-makers in the East Midlands are being urged to take part in a project which could boost their future careers.

EM Media wants aspiring directors to submit short films (between five and 15 minutes) for consideration.

Initially between 12 and 16 applicants will be selected for script development then up to eight films will be commissioned and screened next year.

Each of the successful projects will have a budget of up to £9,000 and could be shown at festivals around the world.

'Talent Platform'

One of the previous films commissioned, Over The Hill, is now being considered for an Oscar.

Last year more than 100 entries were received for consideration.

Suzanne Alizart of EM Media said: "Short films are a platform for talent, [for] directors and producers to demonstrate how well they can do on short and tiny budgets..."

"What we're interested in are ideas and stories from new talent, new voices, people who have different stories to tell or different ways of telling them."

The scheme is open to writers and directors in the East Midlands aged over 18 and not in full-time education. The closing date is 10 November.
