Parents offered alcohol awareness

Parents in Nottinghamshire who allow their children to drink are being made aware of the implications.

The county's Drug and Alcohol Action Team said giving young people alcohol could have an impact on crime, health and the wider community.

The team is running events to enable people to find out more.

Spokesman Andy Wragg said the aim was to let parents know exactly what effects drinking alcohol could have on children and teenagers.

He said: "It was a case of saying 'well, maybe their knowledge around alcohol units is fairly limited'.

"What we're going to be doing is set up market stalls in each of the major towns and start revealing some stark truths to parents through surveys and questionnaires."
