Woman, 81, attacked in bag snatch

An 81-year-old woman sustained a broken shoulder and wrist when she had her handbag stolen in Nottingham, police have said.

The victim was walking home on Bracton Drive in St Ann's on Thursday afternoon when the incident happened.

Officers said the thief grabbed her from behind, pulled her arm back and snatched her handbag.

She fell to the ground as a result of the attack and required hospital treatment for her injuries.

Her bag was later recovered in Marmion Park, but her purse, containing a quantity of money, was missing.

Police said the offender is believed to be in his 20s, white, with very short shaven hair. He was wearing a black top.
