Man discovered injured in street

A man has been taken to hospital after being found seriously injured in a Nottinghamshire town.

A member of the public found him on Redcliffe Road in Mansfield just before 0630 BST on Tuesday.

The 20-year-old was taken to King's Mill Hospital where he underwent surgery and was described as being in a stable condition afterwards.

It is unclear whether or not he was attacked. A police cordon was in place for a forensic examination.

Police are appealing for witnesses.
