Roads reopened after package find

A controlled explosion has been carried out after what was thought to be a suspicious package was discovered in a Nottinghamshire town.

Officers said the item found in the Bridge Street area of Mansfield had been destroyed and was not suspicious.

People and vehicles were evacuated from the Bridge Street, Toothill Lane and St Peter's Way areas at about 0845 BST as a precautionary measure.

A police spokesman said the roads have now reopened.
