Clinics deal with alcohol abuse

Twenty clinics to help people with alcohol problems have been set up.

Five workers will staff the clinics in Nottinghamshire dealing with prevention of alcohol abuse and treatment of health problems related to it.

Services have been set up across the county by Nottinghamshire Community Health at GP surgeries and clinics.

Funding was initially provided by community safety partnerships and now by the Nottinghamshire County Primary Care Trust.

People can be referred to the service by doctors or healthcare workers when alcohol abuse is identified as a problem.

Team leader Suzy Lyon said: "Our main priority is to ensure that our clients and their families and friends remain safe and avoid harm as well as reducing the amount of alcohol they consume and improve their lifestyle."
