Boots' staff vote to go on strike

More than 500 members of the USDAW union at the Nottingham site took part in the vote and 359 were in favour of industrial action.

The changes to working conditions follow the centralisation of the Boots warehousing and distribution operation.

In a statement from Boots Logistics, the company said they were disappointed about employees' decision to strike.

"We have been in discussions with our employees and USDAW over the last 18 months regarding the centralisation of our warehouse and distribution operation," the statement read.

"We believe we have offered a fair deal and that workers in this facility will be among the best paid similar warehouse roles in the region."

Joanne McGuinness from USDAW said: "Our members have voiced their opinion and voted for industrial action. We will be meeting with the company as soon as possible to discuss a way forward."
