Drunk fan threw chair at window

Gary Andrews from Weston-super-Mare pleaded guilty at Nottingham Crown Court to unlawful violence.

The prosecution said Andrews became caught up in trouble after the Nottingham Forest-Bristol City match at the City Ground on 21 October.

Andrews, who was drunk, threw a chair at a restaurant window.

In his defence, it was said that Andrews was mortified by his actions and feared being jailed, which would mean he would not be able to take his disabled son to Bristol City home games.

Judge Jonathan Teare told Andrews: "Violence like this around football matches cannot be tolerated. It's a huge threat to the city centre."

Another man and a juvenile are awaiting sentence for their part in the disturbance.
