Prisoner escapes in rubbish lorry

Mark Chung A prisoner has escaped from a jail in north Nottinghamshire by hiding in a rubbish lorry.

Mark Chung fled from Ranby Prison in the waste vehicle, police said.

Chung, who was later seen jumping from the lorry in Worksop, was serving a six year and 11 month sentence for supplying drugs.

Police say the 31-year-old, who is white, 5ft 9in and of medium build, may be in Sheffield. He is believed to have connections to the Fir Vale area.

He is believed to be wearing a grey t-shirt, khaki or stone-coloured shorts with white trainers.

Police warned people not to approach him.

Det Insp Dave Sinclair said: "Chung is probably extremely dirty and may look dishevelled and wet due to hiding in the waste lorry.

"Anybody who sees a man fitting his description is asked to contact us immediately."
