Woman assaulted near beauty spot

A woman has been assaulted near a Northamptonshire beauty spot.

Police said they were investigating the assault of a woman near Stanwick Lakes in the Nene Valley, which took place shortly after midnight.

The A45 was closed in both directions, between Stanwick and Chowns Mill roundabout, in Higham Ferrers, and re-open later.

A police spokesman said officers investigated the scene near a lay-by where the assault took place.
